Monitoring
Your anaesthetist will monitor you during your operation by attaching you to machines to watch:
● your heart: (electrocardiogram or ECG)
For this sticky patches will be placed on your chest. If you have a hairy chest sometimes the hair might be shaved off to have a better trcing
● your blood pressure: (sphygmomanometer)
For this a cuff will be placed on your arm. It inflates and deflates every 3 to 5 minutes.
● your oxygen level in your blood: (pulse oximeter)
For this a clip will be placed on your finger.

More monitoring may be needed for major operations.
